PROJECT // 04 STRATEGIC POLICY PLANNING
PTCS was selected to work in the United Arab Emirates on strategic policy planning and regulation.
The Abu Dhabi Deprtment of Transport has the challenge of delivering an effective transport system that contributes to the economic growth, quality of life and environmental sustainability of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
It achieves this by regulating, planning and developing an efficient and well-integrated transport system that serves the public interest by enhancing mobility and delivering safe, secure and environmentally responsible Aviation, Maritime, Public Transport and Highways sectors.
The Department was seeking help in further developing the skills of its policy officials with a particular focus on building an understanding of strategic responses in the area of regulation. Given our experience working in the region with the Abu Dhabi Regulation and Supervision Bureau, PTCS was a natural partner for this work.
PTCS designed an interactive programme, that successfully built on existing knowledge and experience. The first week concentrated on enhancing an appreciation of strategic responses to public sector policy challenges, and then a second week on placing regulation responsibilities in this context.
