RECENT PROJECTS

PROJECT //  01 REGULATION

PTCS was delighted to work with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MBA) on further developing understanding of international regulatory approaches.

The MPA was established on 2 February 1996, with the mission to develop Singapore as a premier global hub port and international maritime centre (IMC), and to advance and safeguard Singapore's strategic maritime interests.

MPA is the driving force behind Singapore's port and maritime development, taking on the roles of Port Authority, Port Regulator, Port Planner, IMC Champion, and National Maritime Representative.

At the time of the project Singapore was the second busiest port in the world.  The port of Singapore comprises a number of facilities and terminals that handle a wide range of cargo transported in different forms, including containers as well as conventional and bulk cargo.

PTCS was invited to work some of the young talent at the MPA to deliver an overview of strategic international regulation.  This involved a week long programme delivered at the Singapore Management University and included an overview of international developments in

regulatory behaviour, risk in regluation, international reform initiatives, culture and regulation, competition and markets, regulatory failure, regulatory enforcement and raising regulatory standards.
